Streaming-music giant Spotify has officially leased 73,891 square feet at Center Plaza in Boston, confirming a Business Journal report from March about the expansion.

Spotify USA Inc. will lease offices across floor 6-9 of the curved office plaza located near Boston’s Government Center. The lease term spans 132 months — or 11 years — with two consecutive 5-year options to expand.

The lease was recorded in Suffolk County records on April 24 but executed on March 30. Barry McCarthy, Spotify’s chief financial officer, is the company’s representative on the lease.

The deal comes at a time when numerous high-profile technology companies are seeking to expand in Greater Boston, including Wayfair, Amazon, Facebook, Google, Akamai and Verizon subsidiary Oath, among others.

Indeed, Boston Properties President Doug Linde told analysts yesterday that, “demand for space in the city of Boston continues to grow as technology tenants are expanding at pace that we’ve never seen, and it’s as strong as we have ever seen it.”

The Boston lease also comes on the heels of Spotify’s initial public offering. Shares of Spotify Technology S.A. (NYSE: SPOT) began trading earlier this month and were trading at $155.77 midday Thursday.

Representatives from Spotify and Center Plaza landlord Synergy Investments did not immediately respond to requests for comment Thursday afternoon.

"
